_Battery Park City

// 175 North End Avenue – New York, NY

Concept study 2012, Art glass, laminated

This library is part of the newly built Battery Park City Complex.

We were wondering why such a nice facade should be covert with ugly grey blinds, especially when the library specializes on children being their visitors. The inside space with its inviting little reading corners turns into a magical surrounding with our playful color fields. They are just as positive and bright as the official library symbol with the lion. Within seconds every little change of daylight will make the colored glass wall look like its alive, throwing vivid color projections into the inside an both floors. This will encourage imagination during reading or listening to stories, while the long facade around the corner supplies the necessary daylight.
